About MyIPInfo

MyIPInfo is a free, no-signup tool that shows you what websites can see about you online — and what you can do to take some of that back.

Why we built this

Most people don't think about their IP address. They don't have to — until a streaming service blocks them for being in the "wrong" country, until a website flags their login as suspicious, or until they discover an advertiser has been profiling them based on where they connect from.

MyIPInfo exists because checking these things shouldn't require installing software, creating an account, or trusting a company you've never heard of. Open the homepage and you immediately see:

The Privacy Check

Beyond the basic IP display, MyIPInfo runs a Privacy Check that goes deeper:

These checks help you confirm your VPN is actually doing its job — a surprising number of paid VPNs leak in subtle ways that the VPN client doesn't notice.

Tutorials, written by humans

The tutorials section covers the topics people actually search for: what an IP address really is, how VPNs leak, the difference between IPv4 and IPv6, whether public WiFi is still risky in 2026, and how to hide your IP in practice. Each article is written for someone who isn't a network engineer — no unnecessary jargon, no scare tactics to sell you something.

Data sources and accuracy

Geolocation is built on MaxMind GeoLite2 (country, city, ASN) with manual corrections for Chinese carrier networks. Country-level accuracy is typically >95%; city-level accuracy can be wrong for mobile users, corporate networks, and any cloud or VPN IP. We treat the data as a hint, not an identity claim — and you should too.

If something is wrong about your IP's geolocation, the homepage has a Report button. Submitted corrections are reviewed and applied within a few hours.

Two domains, one service

The data and answers are identical regardless of which domain you visit; only the interface language differs.

Privacy of this site itself

We don't require accounts. We don't profile you across visits for our own purposes. Our server logs your IP for a maximum of 30 days for abuse prevention and aggregate statistics, then permanently delete it. The full details are on the Privacy page.

How we keep it free

MyIPInfo runs ads (banner and native formats only — no popunders, no push, no social-bar). That covers hosting and the time we spend keeping it working. We also have a separate developer-focused tool at ipconf.me if you'd rather call the API directly.

Attribution

This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com. Chinese-network ISP and region names are enriched by ip-api.com.

Feedback

Notice something wrong, confusing, or missing? The Report button on the homepage handles IP-specific corrections; for anything else, reach out via the project's repository. Reader feedback is how this site improves.
